Interdisciplinary Simulation Center
Reimagining Health Care Education at the University of Saint Mary
The University of Saint Mary is investing in the future of health care through the relocation and renovation of its Nursing Simulation Center – bringing this vital learning environment to Berchmans Hall on the Leavenworth Campus.
Why Build a New Simulation Center?
Currently housed in the former operating suite of Saint John Hospital, the existing Simulation Lab has served students well, but it no longer meets the demands of today’s rapidly evolving health care landscape. Space limitations and aging equipment restrict opportunities for advanced training, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the immersive experiences essential to preparing the next generation of health care professionals.
By relocating the Simulation Center to Berchmans Hall, USM will create a modern, centralized hub for hands-on learning where students can practice critical skills in a realistic, simulated hospital environment.
The Mabee Foundation Challenge Grant
The Mabee Foundation is providing a generous $500,000 challenge grant. To receive the challenge grant, we must meet our $2.5 million campaign goal by July 14, 2027.
Together, we’ve already raised $1.9 million. Will you accept the challenge and help us reach our goal?
Project Goal: $2.5 Million
- Construction: $1,332,413
- Architect Costs and Building Permits: $25,000
- Signage: $15,000
- Security and Access: $25,000
- Simulation Equipment: $297,961
- Simulation Technology: $271,280
- Simulation Misc. Equipment $9,286
- Simulation Furniture, Fixtures, Etc.: $75,000
- Other: $449,060

A Transformational Investment in Student Success
The renovated Simulation Center will strengthen the connection between classroom instruction and clinical practice, enhancing student learning outcomes and preparing graduates to deliver high-quality, compassionate care from day one.
This new interdisciplinary center will support students across multiple programs, including:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Master of Science in Nursing
- Family Nurse Practitioner
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- Doctor of Physical Therapy
- Doctor of Occupational Therapy
- Master of Social Work
- Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
Together, these disciplines represent the collaborative future of patient care. In a shared simulation environment, students will gain hands-on experience working across professions, reflecting the team-based approach used in hospitals, clinics, and community health settings.
