Why did you choose to attend the University of Saint Mary, and what made it stand
out from other colleges you considered?
From the moment I stepped onto Saint Mary's campus, it felt like home. The tight-knit community, the closeness to my family home, and a university that truly aligned with my values made the decision an easy one.
What have you been up to since graduating from Saint Mary?
Since graduating, my career has taken me from auditing at a public accounting firm, to supply chain and procurement in manufacturing, and now into finetech. Along the way, I moved to Chicago with my dog, Theo, where I've now built a home for more than four years.
What is your current job or role, and what do you enjoy most about it?
I'm the Procurement Lead at a private equity trading company, where I oversee procurement operations across more than 15 portfolio companies. What I enjoy most is bring structure and efficiency to complex processes by building systems that make it easier for every business owner I support to get their work done.
How did your time at Saint Mary prepare you for your career path?
Although my career has taken a different path than accounting, earning my bachelor's and master's degrees in the field gave me a deep understanding of business financials. Accounting is a foundation that applies to every company, in every industry, and one I still draw on every day.
What is a memorable experience you had during your time at Saint Mary?
The football games and the friendships I built. Saint Mary wouldn't have been the same without every one of the friends who walked that journey alongside me.
Have you stayed in touch with any of your professors or classmates?
Yes, some. Life keeps everyone busy, and being away from KC makes it harder to see college friends as often as I'd like, but I love following along on social media. It's been amazing to watch my classmates build their own families and grow into accomplished professionals in their own fields.
What advice would you give to current students or recent graduates?
Take full advantage of the resources available to you - your professors, classmates, clubs, sports, and organizations. You don't need to have your future figured out; you just need to stay open to the doors these connections can open. The person you meet today could be your future manager, colleague, or reference.
Are there any achievements or milestones you would like to share with the Saint Mary community?
Yes! I am actually embarking on a new chapter relocating to Belfast, Northern Ireland for work. I'm looking forward to this new opportunity and to immerse myself in a new culture and history.
How do you stay connected with the Saint Mary alumni network?
Mostly through social media and email. I'm hoping to make it back for an alumni event soon!
What hobbies or interests are you currently pursuing?
I love running and I'm currently training for a half-marathon in Chicago. I've also picked up tennis, and I cherish slow mornings and long walks with my dog.
Do you have any favorite Saint Mary traditions that you still cherish?
Traveling to away football games. There was nothing like the way sporting events brought everyone together and brought our school spirit.
