What do you love most about being a student at Saint Mary?
What I love most about being a student at Saint Mary is how close the community is. The class sizes are small, so you really get to know your professors and classmates, and they're invested in your success. I've also had the opportunity to get involved outside the classroom, which has helped me build relationships and gain real-world experience.
What are you studying, and what drew you to that field?
I'm double majoring in accounting and business administration-management. I've always been interested in finance, investing, and helping people make smart financial decisions. Those majors give me a strong understanding of both the financial and business sides of organizations, and they align well with my long-term goal of working in financial services.
What has been your favorite class or professor so far, and why?
I’ve appreciated all my business and accounting professors because I feel that they have pushed me to strive for more and gave me the guidance that I needed to move forward in my professional career.
How have you gotten involved on campus (clubs, sports, organizations)?
I have been part of USM’s football team, Esports team where I play Valorant, FBLA, and Trading Team.
What is a memorable experience you've had during your time at Saint Mary?
The memories I made with my friends, home football games are always awesome experiences and I cherish them. My friend Aidan’s game winning interception to beat Tabor our freshmen year. Also, the Esports conference championships from this past year.
How has Saint Mary helped you grow personally and academically?
Saint Mary has helped me become more confident in both my abilities and my future career path. Personally, I've grown through leadership opportunities, balancing multiple responsibilities, and building relationships with professors and classmates who have challenged and encouraged me along the way.
What are your goals after graduation, and how are you preparing for them?
I plan to build a career in financial services, where I can help individuals and families achieve their financial goals. I'm preparing by gaining hands-on experience in the insurance and financial industry, pursuing professional licenses, and continuing to develop the knowledge and skills I'll need to serve clients effectively. My goal is to keep learning throughout my career and eventually become a trusted financial advisor.
Do you have any tips or advice for incoming freshmen?
Get involved early and don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. Build relationships with your professors, ask questions, and take advantage of the opportunities Saint Mary offers. Also, appreciate the friendships that you’ll make here as well.
What is your favorite campus tradition or event?
Football home games.
How do you balance your academic responsibilities with your social life and extracurricular activities?
Balancing everything comes down to staying organized and managing my time well. I prioritize my academic responsibilities first, then plan my work schedule, extracurricular activities, and time with friends around my classes. I've learned that using a schedule and staying ahead on assignments helps reduce stress and allows me to be fully present in everything I'm involved in. Finding that balance has helped me succeed academically while still enjoying my college experience.
