Welcome to Campus Safety & Security

The safety and well being of students, faculty, and staff is of central importance at the University of Saint Mary. To ensure the safety and well being of our campus community, the university has:

  • An emergency alert system that can be heard across campus

  • 24/7 security — Public Safety officers make regular campus patrols

  • Security cameras in the dorms

  • An average 5-minute response time from Leavenworth/Lansing police and fire departments

  • Thorough training on campus safety, security, and emergency procedures at new student orientation

  • A full-time campus counselor and campus counseling intern

  • An Emergency Management Team and Emergency Management Plan

  • Student workshops on sexual assault and domestic violence prevention, self-defense strategies for women, safe dating, the dangers of binge drinking, stress management, Facebook safety, and more.

These combined efforts help make the University of Saint Mary a safe environment and keep USM staff well-prepared for an emergency.

See the USM Student Handbook for student safety policies and procedures.
