Health Information Management Director
General Description:
The University of Saint Mary invites qualified candidates to become the founding Director of its Health Information Management Program (HIM). The successful candidate will show evidence of knowledge and experience necessary to create and direct the program and achieve and maintain full accreditation for the program from the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) and the Higher Learning Commission - North Central (HLC).
Specific Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain HIM curriculum in accordance with the standards established by USM, CAHIIM, and HLC.
- Coordinate the HIM Program accreditation self-study to assure that the HIM Program achieves accreditation status and assume responsibility for all ongoing accreditation activities such as the Annual Program Accreditation Review
- Monitor HIM curriculum and set the standards for curriculum design, development and implementation
- Document and monitor HIM learning outcomes
- Support and facilitate clinical, administrative, and external internships and practicum activities
- Monitor local, national, and international trends in HIM education
- Monitor changes in legislation and accreditation standards that affect HIM curriculum
- Prepare and implement the HIM Program budget
- Advise and recruit current and potential students
- Actively participate in USM governance activities
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in HIM or a related field (doctorate preferred)
- Certification as an RHIA
- Experience in teaching and administrative and staff management at the university level
- Knowledge of information systems and healthcare applications in addition to database applications and software for electronic health records
Contract:
The successful applicant will be hired on a full-time tenure track or tenured line, depending on qualifications. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
