Admission to the Accelerated BSN Track


Is the BSN Track right for you?

» If you're passionate about nursing and willing to dedicate a year of your time to your education, the accelerated track can be a highly-rewarding path.

» Candidates should be highly motivated, as you'll basically be finishing two years of schooling in just 12 months.

» To be considered, you MUST have a BS or BA degree in another field from an accredited college or university.

» Candidates are also expected to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on all prior academic work.


Admission to the accelerated BSN track is highly competitive. Terms start in June. Apply for your desired term as soon as possible.

Admission is based on the following factors:

  • Previous bachelor's or higher degree in any major from an accredited college or university

  • Admission to the University of Saint Mary and separate admission to nursing program

  • Official transcripts for all college or university courses

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for all previous course work

  • Resume including description of volunteer activities and any healthcare experiences

  • 2-3 page typed essay (see application for details)

  • Two letters of reference speaking to individual's ability to complete successfully the rigorous program of study and to have the qualities to be a professional nurse

  • Personal interview for selected eligible candidates (An interview does not guarantee admission.)

  • Achievement of designated benchmark on program-specified externally prepared entrance exam (for example, Test of Essential Academic skills [TEAS])

  • TOEFL score if English is not the native language and/or most recent degree is from a college or university outside the United States. Minimum scores: Writing=20, Reading=19, Speaking=20, and Listening=20.
