Plenty of career and/or graduate school opportunities exist in a variety of rewarding, challenging fields. The most common careers paths include:

  • High School History/Social Studies teachers

  • Federal government employment

Many graduates pursue other opportunities, including advertising, journalism, public relations, and more. If you want additional education, USM’s History degree is widely recognized for its quality, which prepares students for a simple transition to master’s or doctoral-level training.

A HISTORY SUCCESS STORY

Kate Schebaum - Class of 2009

USM History major and secondary education certification student who became one of USM's first Fulbright award winners. Kate spent two years in South Korea teaching English to grade schoolers and now teaches in the States.

"I would absolutely encourage other students to apply to Saint Mary. It was an amazing experience. You just have to have an open mind to succeed, and I hope there are more Fulbrighters from USM.

The education department at USM was key to my success. The classroom experience I gained from it definitely gave me more confidence when I graduated."
