Dr. Natalya T. Riegg is chair of the history, political science & global studies department at the University of Saint Mary.
She earned her Ph.D. in Armenia, did post-doctoral studies in Russia and originally came to the U.S. as a Senior Fulbright Scholar.
Dr. Riegg has authored two books and dozens of articles. She is a member of the Russian International Academy of Humanitarian Sciences, a former Fellow at the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme in Paris and was a professor and NGO leader in her native Armenia.
Since 1992, when she worked with Armenian and Azerbaijani women to build a cross-national dialog of peace and reconciliation during their countries' war over Nagorno-Karabakh, Riegg has been a constant contributor of practical and theory-based approaches to conflict resolution.
Before joining USM, she was a visiting fellow at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at George Mason University’s Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, and at the University of Kansas Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies. At USM, she has been a principal contributor to the Annual Conferences on Global Human Rights.
