USM Art Program Presents 2014 Senior Art Show

April 13-20 | Opening Reception 3-5 p.m. April 13 

(Leavenworth, Kan.)—The University of Saint Mary will host the Spring 2014 Senior Art Show from April 13-20 in Goppert Gallery in Xavier Hall on the USM Main Campus in Leavenworth, 4100 South 4th Street. The exhibition is free and open to the public on weekdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with a special opening reception set for 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 13.

The 2014 Senior Show features the work of three seniors—Melanie Arroyo, an art and psychology major from Overland Park, Kan., Karoline Banasik, an art major from Elk Grove Village, Ill., and Macee Trecek, a studio art major from Paxico, Kan.

Arroyo’s work explores themes of body image, self-esteem and cosmetic enhancements by drawing with makeup. After college, she seeks to pursue a rewarding career in the field of art therapy.

Banasik’s paintings narrate a personal journey between the spiritual and the physical being. While working on a focus in graphic design, Banasik’s artistic interests ranges in many areas of art.

Trecek’s work entails her fascination with butterflies and the moon. Her art strives to create environmental awareness among her viewers. Trecek is working towards becoming an independent photographer and open her own photo studio.
