USM’s Starr GSI Sponsors United Nations Association Event

6:30 p.m. April 26 | Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral Founder’s Hall  

(Leavenworth, Kan.)—The Lawrence D. Starr Global Studies Institute at the University of Saint Mary is sponsoring “Envision, Empower, Embrace: Inspiring Change for Women,” a presentation of the United Nations Association Women – Greater Kansas City, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral Founder’s Hall at 415 W. 13th St., in Kansas City, Mo.

The event is intended to continue the conversation, raise awareness and inspire change for women and girls locally and globally. The featured speaker is Farida Deif, deputy chief of the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women, UN Women. Proceeds from the event benefit Sheffield Place and the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women.

The event will also feature a poetry reading, art exhibit, and live music.

Other event sponsors besides the Starr Global Studies Institute include the Zonta Club of Kansas City II and the Center for Global Peace Journalism at Park University.
