Enjoy ‘A Little Fright Music’ on Halloween Eve at USM

(Leavenworth, Kan.)—The University of Saint Mary will conjure up a host of thrills and chills for “A Little Fright Music,” USM’s annual Halloween Concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, in Xavier Theatre on the Leavenworth Campus, 4100 South 4th Street.

The concert, presented by the university’s department of fine arts-music, is free and features performances by the University of Saint Mary Community Band, the USM Concert Chorale, and instrumental and vocal soloists and ensembles. The performers will be decked out in full costume, and all attendees are invited to do the same.

The community band is made up of USM students, alumni, faculty and staff, as well as musicians from the community. The band’s program will include Ghost Band, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Dies Irae from Verdi’s Requiem, Bugs Bunny’s hit What’s Up at the Symphony, The Pink Panther, and Thriller.

The USM string ensemble will play Psycho Prelude and Jillian Warman, violinist, will perform Danse Macabre. A flute trio will play an arrangement of Three Blind Mice.

The USM Concert Chorale will sing Double Trouble from the Harry Potter series as well as The Ballade of Sweeney Todd.

A costume contest for any children in fifth grade and below in attendance that night will be held during the show, and prizes will be awarded.
