(Leavenworth, Kan.)—The University of Saint Mary will conjure up a witch’s brew of thrills and chills for “A Little Fright Music,” USM’s annual Halloween Concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, in Xavier Theatre on the Leavenworth Campus, 4100 South 4th Street.

The concert, presented by the university’s department of fine arts-music, is free and features performances by the University of Saint Mary Community Band, the USM Concert Chorale, and instrumental and vocal soloists and ensembles. The performers will be decked out in full costume, and all attendees are invited to wear costumes of their own.

The community band is made up of USM students, alumni, faculty and staff, as well as musicians from the community. The band’s program will include selections from Carmina Burana, Star Trek Through the Years, Night on Bald Mountain, The Simpsons, In the Hall of the Mountain King, Funeral March of a Marionette, and Thriller.

The USM string ensemble will perform Music of the Night, and violinist Jillian Warman will perform Danse Macabre.

The USM Concert Chorale will sing Monster Mash and The Addams Family, and vocalists Sarah DaMetz and Hayley Webb will sing Rossini’s Duet for Two Cats.

A costume contest for any children in fifth grade and younger in attendance that night will be held during the show, and prizes will be awarded.
