Position Summary:

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) Tutor at the University of Saint Mary provides support and guidance to students. Particular emphasis is placed on supporting students entitled to accommodations under the ADA (Americans with Disability Act) Amendments Act. In addition, the ARC closely monitors students admitted conditionally as well as those placed on academic probation.  Areas of tutoring (e.g., Psychology, Business, Accounting, Math, Theology, Science, Nursing) vary depending on subject matter expertise.  

This is a part-time temporary position ($7.25/hr).  Hours vary from 0 - 8 hours a week, based upon student requests for tutoring, during the Fall/Spring 2014/2015 academic school year. The ARC is open Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Position start date is August 2014.  Position will work at the Leavenworth campus.


Essential Functions:


  • Assist students with time management, study habits and organizational skills.

  • Tutor, and identify resources for students in area of expertise.

  • Assist with record-keeping and providing input for reports.

  • Display respect, provide guidance, and assist students with their academic needs as well as maintain confidentiality and safeguard privacy (e.g., FERPA).



  • Ability to effectively work in a close, collegial environment dedicated to assisting all students to maximize their God-given potential and preparing them to contribute to the well-being of our global society.

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 in undergraduate work

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Science, Business, Nursing, Psychology or Education-  preferred.
